Don’t get me wrong, I love my Ohuhus, but… The pastels are just not that ‘pastelly’? Everyone raves about the Arrtx OROS pastel markers, so I thought I would give them a go! I ended up getting the 66 marker set directly from Arrtx, as they had a sale on, but they are also available on Amazon.
This article is my honest review (not sponsored) of these markers. I was not paid for my opinions or the review, but I may make a small portion of any sale that occurs after links are clicked in the article (at no cost to you).
Ultimately, for me, whether these markers are worth the investment comes down to how often you use pastels. Here’s what stood out when colouring with them.

Soft pastels that live up to the name
The biggest appeal of the Arrtx Oros pastel markers is the colour selection. Compared with the Ohuhu pastels I own and use, these look like true soft pastels to me.
I enjoy my Ohuhus, but some of their pastel shades are stronger or more saturated than I’d expect from a ‘pastel’. The Arrtx colours have a softer look, which makes them a lovely option when I want a gentle palette without the colours becoming too bold. I have had some followers comment that they can be too unsaturated, though, and need a couple of layers to build up colour.
But, if you really want that washed out, soft look, that difference matters. Having those lighter shades available gives you more room to create what you’re after.
One thing I would note is that there aren’t alot of pastel brown shades which aren’t too red, which meant I did have to dip into my Ohuhus to get browns suitable for tree branches and trunks.

Smooth colouring and lovely blending
The Arrtx Oros pastels colour smoothly, and I’ve really enjoyed how nicely they blend. They work well with other Arrtx markers, but they also blend beautifully with my Ohuhus. This isn’t a surprise really, as they are both alcohol markers.
That compatibility is a big plus for me. I can bring the Arrtx pastels into a palette alongside markers I already own, rather than feeling like I need to use one brand for an entire page.
If you already have an Ohuhu collection and want some softer colours to add to it, these make a useful addition. You can enjoy the pastel shades while still reaching for your familiar markers for the rest of your palette.

Softer nibs with a little more wear
One difference I’ve noticed is that the Arrtx nibs feel softer than the nibs on my Ohuhus. They’re lovely to colour with, but they also seem to wear a little more easily.
This is my experience rather than a controlled durability comparison, but it’s something I’d keep in mind if you prefer a firmer nib or put your markers through a lot of use.
It hasn’t taken away from how much I enjoy the colours and blending. It’s simply the main drawback I’ve noticed alongside those positives.
Clever packaging that doubles as storage
The box deserves a mention because it can be used for storage with the markers facing out. It’s a clever, convenient design that makes the packaging useful beyond the day you open it.
Being able to keep the markers together and facing towards you is a practical touch. I appreciate packaging that earns its place in my colouring space, and this is one of those details that makes using the set a little easier.

Are the Arrtx Oros pastels worth buying
If you use pastel palettes a lot, I think these markers are worth the investment. The genuinely soft colours are their biggest selling point, backed up by smooth colouring, lovely blending and convenient storage.
If you only use pastels occasionally, I’d stick with your Ohuhus or an equivalent collection. A dedicated pastel set is most useful when those colours are something you reach for regularly.
For me, the Arrtx Oros pastels make sense as an addition to an existing marker collection. I love the softness of the colours and how easily they work alongside my Ohuhus. Just keep the softer nibs and the wear I’ve noticed in mind when deciding whether they’re the right fit for you.
Do you reach for soft pastel palettes, or do you prefer your colours a little brighter?
