Polychromos

Skill Level Required

Some Experienced Recommended

Pros

Gorgeous, smooth colours that glide onto the page. Colour can be laid down in layers, adding depth and contrast to your pages. Available in 24, 36, 60 and 120 sets assuring a lovely range of colours.

Cons

These are soft, easily breakable pencils - don't drop them! Can be a bit tricky to use for complete beginners, but to be honest, beginners don't need to be using expensive pencils like these!

White Gel Pen Set

Skill Level Required

Beginner Friendly

Pros

Coming in a set of 5 (two 1mm pens, two dual tip acrylic pens and one liquid ink pen) these pens flow alot smoother than others I've tried. Other than shaking a little to get the ink to flow, I often don't need to stop and start with these pens as I have with other brands. They are nicely opaque and cover black lines well.

Cons

Can take a couple of passes to completely cover black lines. A bit pricey when compared to other readily available brands. Shipping to Australia can be lengthy (mine too so long to arrive I had forgotten I had ordered them!)

Nahuku Direct Ink Markers

Pros

Wow. These markers are juicy, opaque and glide like a charm. Available in complimentary colours to your Ohuhu alcohol markers, they are perfect to add detail and other extras to your pages. Great for covering black lines!

Cons

Very juicy so can be a bit much for beginners, or if you are wanting to do light, transparent detail. Limited availability at times for larger sets to Australia 🙁

Graphic Markers (168 Set)

Skill Level Required

Beginner Friendly

Pros

An affordable way to start colouring, these markers are widely available in Australia (may be able to be shipped internationally). They come in one tip configuration (brush and chisel tip). Good value set for beginners to dabble with colouring before committing to the expense of a more 'advanced' set.

Cons

With only 168 markers, there is a loss of shade variety with this set, however, I have found that they are more than adequate for creating beautiful pages. Barrel build quality is not as premium as more expensive brands, but this is not surprising as they are less than half the price!
